The idea to build a lodge in the southern Karwendel mountain range and to open the area for walkers, mountaineers and climbers stems from the 1920’s.
Eventually, in 1926 the Austrian Alpine Association (section Innsbruck) started to build the lodge located in the alpine pasture of the ‘upper Pfeis’, at the end of the ‘Samertal’. Even today you can admire the old wall paneling and the wooden cladding from that time in the snuggery and bedrooms.
In 1988 the lodge was getting renovated according to today’s environmental standards. Because of this modernization the lodge was awarded with the desired environment quality label of the Alpine Association.
